Désormais, presque tous les Etats membres ont mis en place des mesures pour permettre aux citoyens de faire de tels dons. Ces dons sont notamment cruciaux dans la prise en charge de nombreux patients atteints de maladies cardiaques, de plaies cutanées ou maladies oculaires.
